Former national men’s team coach Henry Brunton has been named the national spokesperson for the recently-launched Kids Play Golf initiative by the National Golf Course Owners Association Canada.
Brunton will provide content to assist golf professionals and facility operators to develop sustainable and productive junior programs.
“I am honoured to be the National Spokesperson for the NGCOA Canada’s Kids Play Golf initiative,” said Brunton.
“I look forward to promoting junior golf to kids, parents, and my fellow PGA of Canada professionals from coast to coast,” he added.
“Kids Play Golf is a grassroots program focused on attracting Canadian kids to the sport of golf by making it a fun and exciting experience.” said Brunton.
In 2005, Brunton was recognized by Golf Magazine as in its “Top 100 Teachers.” In 2008, he became the first Canadian to be included among the U.S. Kids Golf Top 50 Junior Teachers list.
In 2009, he was named National Junior Leader of the Year by the PGA of Canada and a year later, he was the first Canadian recognized by the PGAs of Europe, an alliance from 37 countries, with its most prestigious honour, the Five Star Professional Award.
In 2012, Brunton was named U.S. Kids Golf Master Junior Teacher.
He operates Henry Brunton Golf at Eagles Nest Golf Club in Maple, Ont., and works with Dr. Rick Jensen of Boca Raton, Fla., in conducting Certified Golf Coaches Association Training for PGA/LPGA professionals
