Veteran Gar Hamilton will lead the Ontario PGA team against Quebec in the Titleist Cup matches to be played at Hamilton’s home course, the Mississaugua Golf and Country Club, later this year.
“Gar’s appointment as the Titleist Cup captain was a no-brainer,” said Ontario PGA tournament captain Rob Hickson, “His passion for the game and his competitive nature make him a fitting choice and his leadership will surely move us closer to the win we’ve been seeking.”
A former PGA Tour player, Hamilton has won one Ontario PGA Championship and three provincial Seniors titles. He has also won the Canadian PGA Club Professional Championship on four occasions and the national Seniors title once.
“It will be an awesome experience and I’m looking forward to leading the group and hopefully bringing the cup back to Ontario,” said Hamilton, who was a member of the last Ontario team to win in 1993.
Overall, the Quebec PGA team has won the matches 21 times, with 10 going to Ontario. Yves Tremblay will serve as Quebec captain this year.
