The North Battleford Golf and Country Club in north central Saskatchewan is now accepting applications for the assistant superintendent position.
The golf course completed the installation of an automated Toro irrigation system in 2010 and has retained renowned designer Gary Browning to develop a long-range improvement master plan.
The successful applicant will be highly motivated, goal oriented and dedicated to achieving success in turfgrass management. The assistant will report directly to the superintendent and will play a key role in the turf management team.
The successful applicant will possess the following:
A formal turf education or relevant experience.
A minimum of four years turf maintenance experience.
Good supervisory, training and coaching skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
A familiarity with automated irrigation.
A familiarity with fertilizers and pesticides as well as calibration.
A strong understanding of cultural practices and their effect on golf.
A pesticide applicators’ certificate or ability to obtain one.
A desire to learn and lead.
This is a nine month position (March 1 – Nov. 30) with excellent potential to become year round.
