The Turfgrass Management Program at Olds College in Olds, Alta., has been designed to bring industry representatives into the classroom, beginning in January and is seeking an instructor in golf course management on a contract basis.
The new program features a block style of scheduling with each class having duration of three weeks.
Two separate course contracts are available – each comprising a 45-hour course delivered over a three week block.
Proposed dates are Jan. 5-21 and March 9-25, but there is opportunity for some flexibility of dates for these offerings depending on the candidate’s commitments.
This position will appeal to experienced golf course superintendents and course managers looking to enhance their presentation skills and complement their professional development portfolio.
Candidates will be fully supported by faculty throughout course development and delivery, including but not limited to, public speaking and presentation skills, online learning software and learning techniques in a mentorship capacity.
The preferred candidate(s) should hold a bachelor degree in turfgrass science or related field.
Individuals with strong combinations of education, training, and experience will also be considered. Background in accounting, commerce and/or finance, including past delivery of industry presentations or seminars will be definite assets.
Strong interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills will be required to address a class of up to 25 students daily, with instruction and support for up to three hours per day on campus, for the duration of each 13-day course.
