Glendenning Golf in St. John’s, Nfld., is seeking an assistant superintendent.
The assistant superintendent will be a hands-on working sssistant that reports directly to the property superintendent.
The Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Glendenning turfgrass department. The main responsibilities are staff supervision, job training, task allocation, project work and chemical/fertilizer applications.
Perform chemical and fertilizer applications on golf course property.
Train all staff to complete maintenance practices properly and efficiently.
Properly use resources to ensure that all tasks are completed.
Maintain accurate record keeping.
Participates in the Occupational Health and Safety committee.
Make sure safe working condition and safe work practices are always followed.
Experience on a golf course.
A diploma or degree in turfgrass management or a related field.
The ability to mentor, teach, coach and motivate a team of 10 individuals.
Have the ability to coordinate the day-to-day operations of turfgrass department.
A strong understanding of agronomic practices and how they relate to golf.
The ability to obtain a Newfoundland and Labrador pesticide applicator licence.
The ability to solve problems and handle working under pressure.
This is a 10 months-a-year position.
Paid dues to the Atlantic Golf Superintendents Association.
