The Links at Brunello in Halifax is seeking a golf superintendent.
TheThomas McBroom-designed golf course is in the final stages of construction with grow-in to be completed in 2014. The full course opening is targeted for late May of 2015.
The development, Brunello Estates, is a residential and 18-hole championship golf course that will be a resort lifestyle community, located 15 minutes from downtown Halifax.

Reporting directly to the general manager, the golf superintendent will play a key role in the overall construction and operation of the golf course.
With a hands-on approach, the golf superintendent will assist in the grow-in phase and upon completion of the course, will be responsible for all phases of golf course maintenance and agronomic operations.
Oversee the care and maintenance of the turf, ornamental plants, shrubs, trees and wetlands on the facility grounds.
Oversee subordinates in proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment.
Supervise and participate in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) on the club’s grounds in compliance with all local, provincial and federal regulations.
Manage all golf course equipment and materials, which includes purchasing, maintenance, storing and inventory of the department’s assets.
Detail accurate record-keeping on inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures, cost accounting and material applications.
Supervise and control all maintenance expenses associated with the operation, including payroll, supplies, chemicals and fertilizers and to take corrective measures.
Develop annual operating budget and plans for maintenance, capital improvement projects and capital equipment, which includes preparation, explanation and execution.
Manage an aggressive water usage tracking plan and irrigation systems and provide monthly reporting on retaining ponds, wells and other water source usage.
Provide technical, operational and safety training for employees.
Coordinate snow removal and winter maintenance activities, when necessary.
Have a working knowledge of golf facilities and construction principles. Previous experience in the installation of drainage, irrigation and water management systems would be an asset.
Have a strong knowledge of environmental issues (wetlands, lakes, streams) pertinent to golf course operations and lead the club through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program.
Have experience in scheduling and applications of pesticides fungicides and fertilizers.
Possess the ability to operate and maintain all golf course construction and maintenance equipment.
Have strong communications, leadership and problem-solving skills and experience in recruiting, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating and motivating personnel.
Knowledge of workplace hazardous materials information system (WHMIS) and be a proven leader in Occupational Health and Safety.
First aid and (CPR) certification would be an asset.
A college level or degree in Agronomy or Turf Grass Management.
Five years experience in golf course maintenance.
Grow in, renovation or construction experience.
Valid Pesticide Applicator’s licence or ability to acquire one.
Supervisory, purchasing and financial management experience.
Be willing to work flexible hours and/or shift work.
A working knowledge of computers is essential.
