Nike has introduced a documentary series of videos that offers insight into its athletes, including the one below on Rory McIlroy, who admits that five years ago, a progressive program of stability, strength and power was a necessity.
“I had huge amounts of mobility and flexibility – that’s never been my problem, but I couldn’t stand on one leg for more than 10 seconds. I couldn’t hold a plank for more than 30 seconds,” said McIlroy, 25, whose team includes instructor Michael Bannon, caddie JP Fitzgerald, and exercise physiologist Dr. Steve McGregor.
“Bringing Steve on board has been huge. The education that he’s given me about the body combined with his great background, I feel like I learn stuff off him every day,” added McIlroy, adding that the training has helped strengthen an ailing back.
The McIlroy video offers more of a behind-the-scenes insight into one of its most high-profile athletes than a focus on product.
