The Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada is once again forced to deal with fire at one of its host sites in 2016.
Fire destroyed the clubhouse at Bell Bay Golf Club in Baddeck, N.S., early Sunday morning. Bell Bay is scheduled to host the Cape Breton Open, Sept. 1-4.
Earlier this season, the Mackenzie Tour was forced to cancel the Syncrude Boreal Open after the wildfire that forced the mass evacuation of Fort McMurray, Alta., also destroyed buildings, including the clubhouse, at the Fort McMurray Golf Club.
“We’re deeply saddened to learn of the clubhouse fire at Bell Bay Golf Club and our thoughts are with the staff and everyone affected in the Baddeck community at this time,” said tour president Jeff Monday.
“As we learn more information in the coming days, we will work closely with Sandy Campbell and the host organization of the Cape Breton Open to determine how this will affect the tournament this year and we will advise once we have determined our course of action,” he added.
