London Hunt and Country Club in London, Ont., seeks a second assistant superintendent. Responsibilitie and qualifications are as follows:
Reports to the superintendent and assistant superintendent.
Report all irregularities in course turf quality to the superintendent and assistant superintendent.
Assist with applications of fertilizers, chemicals and all cultural practices on the golf course.
Repair and maintain irrigation system, pipes and irrigation heads as needed.
Supervise and lead a small crew in the efficient and appropriate hand watering and syringing of turf areas.
Assist with record-keeping including IPM scouting, inventories and scheduling.
Operate back-hoe, tractors and other equipment in construction applications including irrigation and drainage.
Must possess strong leadership, communication and interpersonal team-building skills.
Solid time management, organization and prioritization skills.
Graduate of a post-secondary Turf Management program.
Minimum three years of experience on a golf course. Preference will be given to those with previous experience as an irrigation technician.
Working knowledge of Toro Osmac and Site Pro control system is an asset, including basic low voltage electricity, hydraulic control systems, plumbing methods and procedures for system repair, troubleshooting and maintenance.
Knowledge of agronomy, turf grass science and the rules of golf.
Possession of a valid chainsaw licence preferred, but not necessary.
Must possess a valid driver’s licence.
Must be IPM accredited.
Must possess a valid Ontario Exterminator Licence.
