The proposal to sell the John Blumberg Golf Course in Winnipeg and lease four other city-run golf courses to an Ontario-based company has passed its first hurdle, according to this story by Bartley Kives in the Winnipeg Free Press. However, Kives adds here, here and here that the controversy over the proposal, including a $90,000 ad campaign, is far from over … This week’s GNN Poll asks about security and if golf facilities across the country have reviewed their systems and procedures. Here is another story from the Winnipeg Free Press about another incident that is becoming commonplace around the country … Speaking of the GNN Poll, last week’s asked how readers saw business shaping up this year, compared to 2012 and the majority, or 62 per cent, saw it down, compared to the 24 per cent who saw it about the same as last year, while just 14 per cent saw it being better.
