Canadian Golf Hall of Fame member Bob Panasik of Windsor, Ont., saw his long-standing record broken at the Masters. Panasik was 15 when he made the cut at the 1957 Canadian Open, but ceased being the youngest player ever to play the weekend in a PGA Tour event when Guan Tianlang, 14, made the cut at Augusta National last weekend … In 2007, Morgan Pressel replaced Sandra Post of Oakville, Ont., as youngest person ever to win a major when she won the 2007 Kraft Nabisco Championship at the age of 18. Post won the 1968 LPGA Championship just past her 20th birthday … Speaking of Guan, he’s accepted a sponsor’s invitation to play in the Zurich Classic. You can read more from the Golf Channel here … The PGA of Ontario has announced that Deer Ridge Golf Club in Kitchener, Ont., will host the 2013 and 2014 Titleist and FootJoy PGA of Ontario Championships. The tournament will now begin rotating its host sites. This year’s event will be played July 15-16 … American businessman David Bronner says he was inspired by the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel on a visit and tried to duplicate some of the historic hotel on the Alabama Golf Trail, according to this story by Pat Brennan of the Vancouver Sun.
