Kananaskis Country Golf Course is seeking an ambitious, highly-motivated, hardworking second assistant to join its turf care team.
The successful candidate will be part of a complete golf course restoration process after the floods of June, 2013.
Reporting to the golf course superintendent and first Assistant, the second Assistant will help with daily project management and other tasks during the restoration process.
The second assistant will be accountable for helping with training and daily planning and supervision of the turf care team in the transition from restoration to turf maintenance.
This person will also help plan and implement all other facets of the maintenance program.
Experience in golf course/turfgrass management.
A diploma or degree in turfgrass management.
Some previous experience with scheduling and supervision of personnel is an asset.
Must be an excellent team leader with good organizational and communication skills.
Ability to mentor, train and motivate a team of 25-30 individuals.
A strong understanding of agronomic practices and how they relate to golf.
The willingness to adapt to new methods and standards.
Must have a valid Alberta pesticide applicators certificate and experience in applying.
Daily staff supervision, scheduling of assignments, in conjunction with superintendent and first assistant.
Ensure crew assignments are completed in a timely manner.
Staff training and mentorship.
Maintain accurate daily journal, nutrient management and IPM records.
Implement nutrient programs in safe, efficient manner.
Assist and communicate with all other course operational departments.
This position is for eight months, starting the beginning of April and ending at the end of November, with the opportunity to become year-round in the spring of 2018.
