The Fort McMurray Golf Club in Fort McMurray, Alta., is seeking an assistant superintendent.
This May, the club will embark on a nine-hole expansion slated to open in 2015. The successful candidate will be a key member of the turf care department and will assist the senior assistant superintendent in the day-to-day operation of the golf course.
The Assistant Superintendent will assist in the following, but not be limited to:
Implementing of all cultural activities including slicing, verticutting, aeration and topdressing programs.
Coordinate and implement all fertilizer and chemical applications including equipment, calibration and record-keeping.
Assist in employee training and supervision.
Maintenance of the irrigation and drainage systems.
This is a seasonal position with a monthly salary of $4500- $5000 per month, along with bonus for completion of contract. Other benefits include golf, reduction in meals and Property Managers Conference. The successful candidate should posses the following:
Minimum three years working on a golf course.
Turf Management diploma, degree or short course (or willing to obtain).
Alberta Pesticide applicator licence (or willing to obtain).
Strong communication and training skills.
Strong record keeping skills.
Start date is scheduled for April 21 (negotiable).
