Crowsnest Pass Golf and Country Club in Blairmore, Alta., is seeking a golf course superintendent.
Reporting to the project manager and greens committee chair, the superintendent will maintain a positive, safe, and professional work environment and will receive any necessary support to meet club objectives.
The superintendent will devote full effort to producing the best possible playing conditions with the equipment, budget and direction provided and demonstrate a thorough understanding of golf course maintenance practices, while working alongside construction contractors and grow-in personnel to minimize disruption to members and guests.
All staff working on the course and grounds will report directly to the golf course Superintendent.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Respectfully leading a turfcare team, including scheduling, training, monitoring and evaluating all maintenance personnel.
Implementing policy and enforcing compliance with safety program.
Approving expenditures and exercising cost control measures to provide the best possible maintenance operation within approved budget.
Responsible for daily golf course set-up and routing. Alternate holes are available to accommodate reconfigurations on the existing golf course.
Inspecting the golf course and related areas to evaluate that standards are being achieved, and effect changes in course management programs to achieve desired standards based on his/her professional interpretation.
Controlling payroll and maintenance operation expenses.
Keeping accurate and complete records of payroll, inventory, maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, irrigation schedules, purchases and completing appropriate permits, licenses, and all other reporting as required.
Coordinating and planning daily, weekly, and seasonal tasks with equipment technician and the golf management team.
Offering professional advice and opinion to the project, maintenance operation and golf club operation as part of the management team.
Meeting regularly with the project manager and greens committee to discuss plans, projects, finances, priorities and strategies.
Attending and reporting at board meetings and participating in long-range planning.
Work around challenging mountain weather conditions and perform all seasonal golf course preparations.
Hardworking, honest, and organized.
Able to work and lead in a team environment.
Diploma or certificate in turfgrass management, or equivalent training and experience.
At least three years’ experience as a golf course superintendent or assistant superintendent.
Experience with centrally controlled irrigation systems. Toro experience an asset.
Golf construction and grow-in experience an asset.
Valid Alberta pesticide applicators licence.
