The City of Cold Lake is seeking a qualified individual to fill the permanent, full-time position of golf superintendent with the Department of Community Services.
Reporting to the Golf and Winter Club foreman, the golf superintendent is responsible for maintaining the Cold Lake Golf and Winter Club golf course landscape at the highest quality to ensure the healthy growth of golf course grasses, trees, wetlands and other applicable plant materials.
The position is responsible for all day-to-day grooming and maintenance operations of the Cold Lake Golf and Winter Club, while increasing guest satisfaction through turf conditions.
The golf superintendent will monitor the appearance and playing conditions of the golf course and address any issues with turf quality, while overseeing the care and maintenance of the greens, fairways, and rough.
The golf superintendent will be relied on by the recreation manager to react to changing course conditions and maintenance requirements, while also being proactive to solve issues independently.
The preferred qualifications for this position include the completion of a recognized diploma or degree in turfgrass Management or equivalent, mechanical knowledge of turfgrass equipment, thorough knowledge and understanding of the proper use of fertilizers and their application and proper irrigation of turf as it relates to course conditions.
A valid Alberta pesticide applicator’s licence is also required.
The Golf Superintendent will have strong customer service skills and a firm commitment to confidentiality. A Class 5 driver’s licence and standard first aid with CPR are required.
