Renowned Canadian broadcaster Brian Williams will be master of ceremonies for the Canadian PGA Centennial Gala Dinner on Monday July 11 at the Hilton Lac-Leamy Hotel in Gatineau, Que.
“We are thrilled to have Mr. Williams emcee and celebrate our 100th anniversary”, said Canadian PGA executive director, Gary Bernard.
“Mr. Williams’ respected broadcast style has endeared him to millions of Canadians and he has a long rich history of sports experience similar to that of the Canadian PGA,” said Bernard.
Williams was recognized for his efforts at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics with a Gemini Award as best host or interviewer in a sports program and was named outstanding broadcaster by Sports Media Canada.
Born in Winnipeg, Williams reported on his first Olympics at the 1976 Summer Games in Montreal. He has covered every high-profile sporting event around the globe, including the NHL, Major League Baseball and PGA Tour, among others.
“The Vancouver Olympics changed our country. There is a new respect for our accomplishments, our institutions and their history. I am proud to help the Canadian PGA, a valued and respected national institution, celebrate 100 great years”, said Williams.
