Stacy Lewis, who won the LPGA ShopRite Classic by four shots on the weekend and will be at the inaugural Manulife Financial LPGA Classic in Waterloo, Ont., later this month, wasn’t sure if she would ever reach the LPGA Tour after undergoing surgery for scoliosis (abnormal curving of the spine) at the age of 18.
Yet, she went on to become a four-time All-American at the University of Arkansas, where she won a dozen collegiate events, and last year made her first LPGA Tour victory a major championship after winning the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
She talks about some of the challenges she’s faced, how they’ve motivated her, and what she thinks of Grey Silo, the site of the Waterloo stop later this month.
