The Fort McMurray Golf Club is seeking an assistant superintendent, who will work in coordination with the superintendent and senior assistant superintendent.
Planning and supervising maintenance of greens, tees, fairways and rough.
Supervise and oversee the completion of work assignments by crew members.
Assist in planning, calibrating, and implementing fertilizer and chemical applications.
Plan and implement cultural activities such as verti-cutting, slicing and aeration.
Supervise and participate in the operation and maintenance of pumps, drainage and irrigation system.
Assist in employee training and supervision.
Assist in personnel management and evaluation, personnel discipline and may modify the daily work schedule based on professional interpretation.
Enforce safe working conditions on all job sites and provide a leadership role with small projects.
A degree/diploma in horticulture or turf management or currently enrolled in a horticulture or turf program from a recognized educational facility.
The ability to schedule and supervise maintenance work to achieve the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
Strong communication and record-keeping skills.
Ability to follow oral and written directions.
Possession of a valid driver’s licence.
This is a salary position ranging between $4,500-$5,000/month depending on an applicant’s qualifications.

The City of Saskatoon is seeking a golf course equipment technician for its community services department recreation and sport division.
Repair and maintain in safe operating condition tractors, skid steer loaders, greens mowers, fairway mowers, sand trap rakes, aerators, power carts, reel and rotary mowers, turf mowers, lawn mowers, powered hand equipment and other specialized equipment for golf course maintenance, including repair of engines (gasoline and diesel), hydraulic systems diagnosis and repair, electrical diagnosis and repair, reel grinding, sharpening, set up, and drive-trains.
Order supplies and prepare purchase orders as required. Maintain records of equipment and parts inventory.
Establish and maintain a preventive maintenance program for equipment servicing and repair. Maintain manuals concerning all equipment and refer to them as required.
Ensure adherence to safety policies, work procedures and departmental policies.
Assist with building maintenance as required.
Assist with irrigation system repairs as required.
Perform welding and fabricating duties.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Grade 12 education.
Possession of Turf Technician Certification.
Five years related golf course turf equipment repair and maintenance experience.
Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid first aid certificate.
Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and standard practices of the turf equipment mechanical trade.
Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
Knowledge of the operating and repair characteristics of a wide variety of golf course equipment.
Knowledge of irrigation systems and repair.
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with civic employees.
Ability to perform arc and acetylene welding and fabricating.
Salary is $4,621.82 to $5,095.56 per month.
