Sandpiper Golf Course in Harrison Mills, B.C., is seeking an assistant superintendent.
The selected candidate will work under direction of the superintendent. The assistant must lead by example by taking a proactive position on all issues concerning the golf course staff.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years golf course experience at a senior level and be a hands-on team leader and effective communicator who is solution-oriented and supports the superintendent in leading, supervising and supporting the turf care team.
This is a full-time year round position that offers a competitive salary, along with benefits.
Qualifications and Skills
Knowledge and experience in agronomy and integrated pest management principles.
A thorough and practical understanding of the rules and strategies of golf, including the relationship and influence of maintenance practices and programs.
Knowledge and experience of golf course construction techniques, project planning and management.
Knowledge of irrigation scheduling, application and monitoring through a central control system. Knowledge of Rainbird Stratus central control and software platform will be an asset.
Knowledge of golf course equipment and operations.
Proficient with computer MS office software and databases.
Knowledge of WorkSafe BC practices as they relate to golf course operations.
Degree, diploma or certificate from a recognized university or college turf management program or a combination of relative education and experience.
Current B.C. pesticide applicators certificate.
Valid B.C driver’s license
