Mizuno has nicknamed its new S5 wedge “Blue Magic” for its bold, Blue Ion finish option.
Featuring Mizuno’s patented Grain Flow Forging process, the S5 Wedge also provides a clean look at address through its new “silhouette” head shape.
Incorporating the Grain Flow Forged 1025 mild carbon steel is used to create a solid, soft and consistent feeling wedge.
“The new S5 wedge line was developed with feedback from Luke Donald,” said Jeff Cook, director of tour operations for Mizuno USA. “Moreover, it was awesome to see Luke do something a little out of the ordinary and put the S5 Blue Ion Wedges right into his bag.”
Utilizing its proprietary Peformance Fitting System (PFS) guided by the Shaft Optimizer, Mizuno created a fully customizable wedge program.
The S5 Wedge features a sole grind story where 15 per cent of the centre trailing edge is beveled on high-bounce options and 25 per cent is removed on low-bounce options for greater precision at each offering.
Enabling precise control of the width, depth, draft angle and shoulder radius of each grove, the new wedge utilizes Mizuno’s exclusive Quad Cut Groove technology for better spin control and ball stopping ability in all playing conditions.
Mizuno reinforced the Mizuno blue brand color with the introduction of the Blue Ion finish on the S5 Wedge.
The wedge also features 25 different loft and bounce combinations, which range from 49 to 62 degrees for both left and right-handed golfers.
The S5 wedges are available globally in two durable right-hand finishes, White Satin and Blue Ion. The left-handed S5 wedge is available in the White Satin only.
The shaft is a True Temper Dynamic Gold and the grip is a Golf Pride Multi-Compound Blue/Black 60Round.
