The new JPX-800HD set from Mizuno uses the company’s JPX technologies of Hot Metal and MAX COR in its goal of more distance in game-improvement irons.
The HD (High Distance) irons feature MAX COR pocket construction and a multi-thickness Hot Metal Face in its objective of highest allowable coefficient of restitution for more distance.
The set makeup includes Mizuno’s new Hybrid DLR (Direct Long Iron Replacement), the JPX Fli-Hi, in the four and five. They combine with a low centre of gravity iron design in six through gap wedge.
“The JPX-800HD irons were designed with game improvement in mind and with the success of the JPX-800 irons, we decided to create a set of clubs that adhered to the super game improvement category,” said Dick Lyons, vice president and general manager of Mizuno USA.
To better match mis-hit patterns, the irons feature low-heel, high-toe weighting to create a large sweet spot. Harmonic Impact Technology (HIT) is in place for feel, sound and greater ball speed for more distance.
The JPX-800HDs offer a wide C grind sole with a deep centre of gravity for higher launch. Two-toned nickel chrome plating with an electroform badge adds to the appearance and offers a durable finish.
The JPX-800HDs feature a Dynalite Golf XP steel or Fujikura Orochi graphite shaft, a Golf Pride M-21 grip and are available in righthanded only.
