PING has kicked off 2013 with the introduction of its second adjustable driver, the G25, a family that also includes irons, fairway woods and hybrids, along with 12 models of Scottsdale TR (True Roll) putters.
The G25 comes after PING introduced the adjustable Anser driver late last summer.
“We’re helping golfers play better through some exciting innovations,” said PING chairman and CEO John A. Solheim.
“The entire line appeals to players of every ability level. The G25 driver offers meaningful adjustability to help all golfers optimize their trajectories without sacrificing the performance that’s often lost in bulkier hosel designs,” he said.
“The entire G25 series represents our continued commitment to engineering products that lead to lower scores and more enjoyment,” added Solheim.
“I’m especially excited about the Scottsdale TR putter line, which features two significant innovations that will lead to tremendous improvement on the greens,” he said.
Bubba Watson and Hunter Mahan have switched to the G25 driver and will make their debuts this week at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions with the new driver and fairway woods. Mahan will also have a Scottsdale TR ZB S putter in his bag.
The lightweight, aerodynamic, adjustable hosel design is part of the G25’s Trajectory Tuning Technology that will allow golfers to add or subtract a half-degree of loft to the 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 12-degree lofts that are available with use of a PING wrench.
The adjustable hosel design maintains the same outer diameter and mass of PING’s fixed hosels, while thin crown technology in the deeper profile, 460 c.c., Ti 8-1-1 head distributes weight to the perimeter to position centre of gravity lower and farther back than other company drivers.
The variable-thickness face is designed to deliver a more powerful energy transfer for faster ball speed and more distance.
The G25 also features the TFC 189D, a lightweight, high balance point shaft that is developed specifically for this driver. The shaft is designed to create increased clubhead momentum at impact.
The G25 also features a charcoal, non-glare finished to help with alignment, eliminate reflection and offer confidence at address.
