Callaway has brought back an iconic name with the return of the new multi-metal, adjustable Big Bertha and Big Bertha Alpha drivers.
“We didn’t bring the name back out of some misguided sense of nostalgia. We brought it back to advance the science of hitting the ball far,” said Alan Hocknell, vice president of research and development for Callaway.
The Big Bertha features a new Adjustable Perimeter Weighting slide towards the rear of the club to created a 20 per cent higher moment of inertia for forgiveness and several draw and fade bias options.
A lightweight Forged Composite Crown that weighs just eight grams allows for saved weight to create Adjustable Perimeter Weighting and a deeper centre of gravity for more forgiveness and low spin with a lighter swing weight.
The new Advanced Adjustable Hosel Technology allows the user to increase the loft up to two degrees or decrease it by one degree and adjust draw or neutral bias for improved launch backspin and preferred shot shape.
Big Bertha also has a new Hyper Speed Face design that is 10 per cent lighter to increase ball speeds across the face.
The Big Bertha Alpha, meanwhile, offers Gravity Control Adjustability through its Gravity Core that allows the user to adjust spin independently of launch angle.
The Alpha also features a Hyper Speed Face Cup, Adjustable Hosel Technology and a Forged Composite crown.
The Big Bertha Fairways are also available.
