We typically haven’t opened at Cottonwood during Masters Week, so we thought we should do something on the weekend.
We’ve got the range open, so we’ve also got a brunch going from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and we’ve taking reservations for that.
The chef’s done up a nice menu and names all the items after things you’ll hear at the Masters. We’ve also got a trivia contest going with a competition for prizes.
We’re trying to get the social atmosphere and the culture of the club established early and get people hanging around the club, even if the golf course isn’t open.
The weather is supposed to be good from now through Saturday and it looks like the temperature could go down a little bit on Sunday. This weekend will gear us up for opening the following weekend.
The reaction has been fantastic from members. We’ve had the range open for over a month on weekends and this is the next step towards opening and it should be fun.
To this point, the members have been down and buying stuff in the shop and hanging out in the lounge. The weather has given us an excellent kick-start to the season.
Even if the weather tanks a little bit this weekend, people will still enjoy the Masters.
It’s all in tune with the culture we’re trying to provide this year. We’ve got it set up that we’re doing a social event every two weeks, whether it’s a brunch or a concert, something more than just golf.
Judging by the response so far, it seems to be working.
