By now, you’ve probably heard that I’ve left Coppinwood. I was brought in five years ago to do a job and I think I’ve done that.
Coppinwood has always been great with me. It was just one of those things where the new ownership is more involved. Gerard Waslen and Paul McLean are both good people and they’re industry people.
I’m leaving on good terms. Even when the rumours started a year ago after the new owners came in, it was just the typical rumours that go on when such a change takes place. I’m happy about my time at Coppinwood and I think they’re happy as well.
I was brought in to increase membership and make the operation fiscally viable and I think I’ve succeeded. They thanked me for my work and so did members.
As it stands, I’ve agreed to stay on for a transition period and will probably continue with that until March or April.
As for what’s next, I have no thoughts about where I’m going at this point. I’ll take a little time and see what the next chapter is, but it’s not like I’m going somewhere tomorrow.
It’s a good industry. I love the golf industry and I know a lot of people within it, but I’ll just wait a little while for the right opportunity to come along. Having said that, if you know me, I’m not one to sit around doing nothing for too long.
