There are lots of things to do in the week after closing down the golf course for the winter.
We take a couple of days to punch the greens and aerate. We have to bring in everything from the driving range, such as garbage receptacles and signage.
There are plenty of little things you want to get done before there’s even a possibility of snow and the white stuff was forecasted to hit parts of Southern Ontario on Monday night.
The Tuesday management meetings that we have are important in getting it done, but the nice thing is that everybody knows what to do. We just want to stay on the same page, which is what emphasizes the importance of the Tuesday meeting that we hold each week.
For example, Tara Schnavel, our food and beverage manager, knows she has to get the patio furniture and beverage carts into storage, but may need the help of Steve Grass, our head professional, in getting them into the storage area.
The good thing about the Tuesday meeting is that everybody knows what the other is doing and we want to make sure there are no surprises and there usually aren’t because we’re a closely-knit group and we’re always talking.
However, it’s good to have that meeting for coordination purposes.
