We may have received a good blast of winter in Calgary this week, but we can’t complain at Mickelson National.
Because of the good weather we had before that hit, we’ve got nine holes shaped and seven to nine holes have drainage in , so it’s gone according to plan, actually better than that.
I’m amazed at the progress, the bunkers and green sites. These guys are really artists and experts. I’ve been at a lot of construction site and this is reall special.
In the spring, I was thinking maybe six holes by now, so I think we’re ahead of plan. Originally, I though we might go until mid-November, but I always push the envelope. A month ago, I though Dec. 1 and that might have been wishful thinking, but I thought what’s wrong with that?
I was speaking with Terry Reardon, who is with the Oliphant Group, and he said because of the weather, they’re still moving dirt and if they can move dirt, they’re happy because they’re not moving big chunks of land.
At the beginning of this week, we had been enjoying temperatures of nine to 10 C. It was supposed to get cooler and everything could change, but at that point, there was no permafrost. As Terry said, if they can move the dirt, they can work.
Hopefully, we can get a couple of more weeks in and set up a good situation for what’s still ahead.
