The thing that I like about the Windmill Golf Group in Calgary where I’ve recently joined as vice president of business development is that they have existing courses like the Hamptons, where they’re doing a membership drive, yet looking ahead to the future, Mickelson National will soon be under construction.
I’m very excited to learn the ins and outs of all the different properties within the Windmill Group and I think I’ll need to bring things I learned from different golf courses I’ve worked at over the years.
You can look at Coppinwood, which is a high-end private club and we were selling memberships to Angus Glen when it was in its building mode to Toronto Hunt, a well-established club, yet you still have to be on your toes due to the changing economy.
I think I’ll be taking a bit of each of those courses and combining them into my new position.
I look forward to what’s ahead.
Every time, I’ve gone to a new situation, there has always been excitement in my mind. I’m a pretty positive person. I see the situation and I can kind of visualize how it’s going to go.
I think Angus Glen, Coppinwood and Toronto Hunt went as I envisioned and maybe some of them went better than I envisioned, to be honest.
There’s excitement for me in Calgary because the Ehlert family is well-established and the people at Windmill have been very welcoming. I see a great team there and I think we’re going to do some fantastic things.
There’s no trepidation on my part because there’s so much upside with the company and the team within it.
