Here at Coppinwood, we’re working until the 20th of December before taking off for the holidays, but as the days wind down to that date, there should be no added concern about motivating employees because they should be motivated all year long.
First of all, you enjoy working with great people and it’s always a good idea to go out there throughout the season and find something that they’re doing right to send them a positive message.
A great employee is somebody you can count on at any time of the year and if they’re not motivated in July or September, they won’t be motivated in December.
If you can’t motivate them on Dec. 15, you’ll have a hard time motivating them on July 15. That person is as much a go-to employee in December as he or she is in July and you know you can count on that person to get things done in the weeks leading up to the holidays.
Having said that, if they want a little downtime to spend with family or to attend a holiday event, what’s wrong with that? It those people are the go-to types you think, you know they’ll be there when you need them the most.
