It’s been quite a whirlwind since the announcement a couple of weeks ago that I am joining the Windmill Golf Group in Calgary as vice president of business development. You can hear more about that by clicking here.
It’s been very emotional for me, especially the reaction from Toronto Hunt. I think so highly of the club, members, staff, the property, board of directors and all the committees that I’ve worked with while I was there. It was and is a special place and I was blessed to be there, even for a short time.
The nice thing about Toronto Hunt is that they’re happy for me also. They’ve been very encouraging and they understand that it’s a wonderful opportunity for me. All the e-mails and phone calls since the announcement have just been incredible.
In Calgary, I got to meet the staff and although we’ve tentatively set April 1 as a start date, I’ve told Toronto Hunt that I’ll be around until they’re comfortable that everything will run well.
For now, I’ll be the only one from my family going out and we’ll wait until the end of school before we decide when everybody else is going to join me.
I’ve got a great friend of mine who lives in Calgary and he’s in Dubai until June. He’s a great guy who has opened his home to me, so I won’t have to rush out and find a place and I’ll be able to figure out what area of the city is best for us to be in.
Great friends and an understanding family are great to have at times like this and I’m lucky to be blessed with both.
