I love what the Royal Canadian Golf Association did with its Golf Canada rebranding and the new logo and I’m throwing my support behind it.
Last year, Coppinwood hosted the national team media day and I think what Golf Canada is doing now is a huge step toward connecting with all facets of the game – young, old, public, private. We’re selling hats and bags in the pro shop with the Golf Canada logo.
Hockey Canada has done a great job with its logo and I think that golfers will be proud to wear their Golf Canada logo. This is a huge breakthrough in its marketing and it’s going to help all of us.
A lot of us from the industry were invited to an industry roundtable earlier this year. The excitement over the new brand and the excitement of golf in Canada is encouraging and we’ve all got to get on board and do our part in any small way we can.
I like where Golf Canada is going and I like its initiative. I think we’re really on to something.
Coppinwood got involved with Golf Canada because of our relationship with the association, but I know it has some well-respected people visiting golf facilities across the country.
Here in Ontario, our contact is Steve Carroll, who I’ve known since before he went out to work with the British Columbia PGA. He then came back to Acton, Ont., to work as executive director of the Canadian PGA.
I think he did a great job with an association that I’m proud to be a member of and I worked with Steve on a couple of committees.
Steve’s a stand-up guy and Golf Canada has a treasure there. He’s well-known to golf professionals and he’s well-known in the golf industry, He will do a great job for Golf Canada.
Remi Bouchard and Blair Armitage will also be great ambassadors for Golf Canada, each with solid reputations.
All three guys are solid and will do a good job of getting Golf Canada to the golf industry.
