We’ve had a few little touches of spring recently in Southern Ontario, which gets people thinking about the game, with golf courses only about a month away from opening.
We had our job fair recently and opening day is in sight. We’ve got to be ready for it.
We’ll be sending out an edition of Coppinworld, an electronic magazine or e-zine that is one of our ways of communicating with members.
We want to get people excited about the coming season and we have a lot of new things that are happening this year that we want people to know about. In January and February, they might be a bit apathetic, but as soon as March comes, they’re getting excited about golf again.
With the Match Play Championships going on recently, people were talking golf and then, when the Masters comes, it will be very close to the start of golf in this country.
We’re going to have an opening cocktail party. The members might come out and play nine holes depending on the weather, but even if they don’t, they can get reacquainted with our staff and other members, so it should be fun.
That will be detailed in Coppinworld. Paul Bussiere, our director of sales, does a great job of putting it together with nice pictures and fonts. It really is a nice little read.
A lot of golf courses are doing similar things and it doesn’t take a lot to do, especially with computers and the graphics available these days. You can do it very professionally in-house or with some professional help from outside.
Let’s say you send out 1,000 brochures, that costs a lot of money, but if you send out something with some nice pictures and fonts, it can be a professional product at a fraction of the cost, even if you use professional help.
