As a general rule, I don’t partake in public discussions about the politics of other countries for several reasons.
For one thing, Canada has enough concerns of its own to focus on and who among us would appreciate an American or anyone else chiming in on those topics? As a result, I show the same respect for issues within their borders.
Having said that, I don’t think I’m putting my nose where it doesn’t belong by observing the volatility in the U.S. Whether it’s sabre-rattling with North Korea or protesters vs. counter-protesters across the country, it’s next to impossible to miss the powderkeg situation in the U.S. this summer.
Whether all of this cools off in the winter remains to be seen, but at this time of year, Canadians in the golf industry are thinking about a warm weather getaway to escape the snow and the cold, perhaps even mixing business with pleasure, combining a vacation with the annual trip to the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando.
Does all that change this year due to the unrest in the United States? That’s the question for this week’s GNN Poll.
