There are several golf courses open in British Columbia, the stomping ground of GNN blogger Kyle German, who points out in this blog that there are no guarantees with the weather once an operation opens for the season.
On the other hand, several regions across the country were crowing about the glorious spring they enjoyed last year.
Another GNN blogger, Kevin Thistle, reflected back on the 2012 season in Southern Ontario here, and pointed out if there was one drawback to the fine weather there, it was that there were times they could have used more of the rain that B.C. got at Coppinwood, where he’s employed.
Tiffany Gordon, another member of GNN’s esteemed bloggers, has pointed out frequently that late spring snowstorms don’t surprise anybody in Alberta.
As unpredictable as weather may be, it’s a big factor as golf operations determine their respective opening days. A GNN Poll that we ran back in March showed that 88 per cent of respondents will open whenever the weather allows, while 12 per cent go with a fixed, traditional date.
In either case, what date is that? When do you see the golf operation where you’re employed opening this year?
When do you see the golf facility where you work opening this year?
- Last half of April (48%)
- Early May (23%)
- First half of April (18%)
- We’re already open (13%)
