In my neck of the woods, we were treated to a refreshing taste of spring, but at this time of year, that can be a mirage.
Sure enough, the snowblower came out last week, the temperature dropped and while it wasn’t as frigid as it had been in January, it was enough to illustrate that winter doesn’t give up easily. It’s like the upcoming federal election – it may be annoying, but you get it whether you want it or not.
Complaining about a long winter is a proud Canadian tradition, but it’s one that’s justified in the golf industry considering the business consequences as we anxiously wait to open our operations and enjoy a season that is not only long, but prosperous.
Prosperity and duration of season go hand-in-hand in the golf industry and as we all know, despite our tendency to try and forget, winter can return with a vengeance even after we open our doors, but by now, you must at least have a tentative opening in mind.
That’s the subject of this week’s GNN Poll.
Which of the following dates falls closest to your planned opening day?
- April 15 (54%)
- May 1 (28%)
- April 1 (10%)
- May 15 (8%)
- June 1 (0%)
