The Canadian Golf Hall of Fame will announce its 2016 inductees on a teleconference on Tuesday at 11 a.m. GNN will keep you posted … Bill Carrington, a 20-year head professional at Windermere Golf and Country Club in Edmonton as well as other clubs throughout Alberta, was recognized recently for 50 years as a Class A member of the PGA of Canada. You can read his PGA of Alberta profile here … The PGA of Alberta’s consumer show in Edmonton was held on the weekend, with the Calgary show to be held March 19-20 at the BMO Centre, Hall B … It was a pleasant 17 C in Calgary on Saturday, but I thought the temperature must be higher and the heat was getting to Tiffany Gordon when she sent an email, saying she was going to be opening the range at Cottonwood Golf and Country Club for the weekend. It was so unlike her, especially since the earliest the range had opened previously was Masters weekend and that was years ago. Tiff’s okay though, just one of many in the golf industry getting the season going early, although true to Tiff’s nature, the course will remain closed until it’s ready. You can hear my chat with Tiff on that very subject here … Bob Weeks, who has moved from ScoreGolf to TSN as senior golf reporter and analyst, will also co-host Golf Talk Canada, along with Mark Zecchino, which gets under way on March 16. Weeks replaces veteran sportscaster Jim Tatti, who will likely suggest that he can’t be replaced. As for Weeks, I’ve suggested that with all he’s involved in, I’m going to start a kid’s puzzle book featuring Weeks in various golf crowds and call it Where’s Weeksy? … Dual citizen Austin Connelly has received a sponsor exemption into this week’s Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Fla. Graham DeLaet, Adam Hadwin, David Hearn, Nick Taylor and Mike Weir are the Canadians in the field … The LPGA Tour will be quiet this week, with the JTBC Founders Cup to be played in Phoenix next week. Hamilton’s Alena Sharp has already said she’ll play that one and Brooke Henderson is expected to be in the field … Henderson, by the way, is eighth on the LPGA Tour money list after a tie for ninth at the HSBC Champions in Singapore on the weekend, her fourth consecutive top-10 finish. She also moved up a spot into 11th on the world rankings … The Web .com and Champions Tours, as well as PGA Tour Latinoamerica, are off again this weekend before resuming their schedules next week, as well … In last week’s GNN Poll, readers were asked if their were losing interest in social media as a business tool for marketing, communications, etc. The people who answered no were the majority at 54 per cent, but with 46 per cent saying yes, it would appear that social media in general is showing signs of fading … This week’s GNN Poll asks if Golf Canada should be required to show a balanced budget each year.
