The Players Championship changed dramatically between the first and second rounds as previously unknown first round leader Roberto Castro suffered a 15-shot swing, his opening 63 followed by a bloated 78 in the second round.
Meanwhile, Sergio Garcia took the lead with Tiger Woods just one shot behind and more marquee names in the mix as they head into the weekend at TPC Sawgrass.
Woods is locked and loaded in vintage fashion, ready to take control on Saturday. Going into the fourth round with the lead is vintage Tiger if he is to take his fourth win of the season and his first Players Championship since 2001.
Garcia, Lee Westwood and other familiar names look ready for the task, but if they’re not successful, this looks to be the year of the Tiger on the PGA Tour.
That’s the topic of my latest column in the Toronto Sun, which you can read here.
