Starting early in the new year, I’ve got a busy January starting with a voyage to Portland, Ore., followed a couple of weeks later with the annual excursion to Orlando for the PGA Merchandise Show. From there, it’s on to Scottsdale, Ariz.
All of these are business trips, although few would feel sorry for me considering the destinations and I must admit there will be some rounds of golf thrown in, even though I will be filing from the road for GNN.
I say this not to be boastful because I hope that everybody will get a chance to get away to a warm weather destination to enjoy some golf as well as beach time or just hanging by the pool as part of the great Canadian bailout from winter that takes place in the three months following the holidays.
I’m sure a winter getaway is on the minds of many GNN readers as they complete their year-ends and projections for the 2011 season. I know from discussions with many readers that they each have favourite places that they frequent when the snow is flying in Canada.
Let’s hear about them.
In the Comments box below, let us know about where you like to go and why. Is it a particular golf course or is that golf course just part of the overall experience at any given destination? Is there a restaurant or watering hole that sticks out in your mind, either because of the food or the ambience?
Is the service exceptional? Are the staff members personable? Is there a feature to a resort or hotel that is unique to that particular establishment? What are the après-golf activities that make it special.
Let’s start an informal GNN discussion with the season and the buying shows behind us, so just have fun by offering your thoughts below.
