This may be my blog, but the concept was brought up last week by GNN blogger Mike Schurman in his weekly contribution here.
Schurman floats the idea that the Presidents Cup convert to a mixed gender competition, suggesting that women’s golf, the LPGA Tour, the event itself and golf in general would be better off for it.
Meanwhile, the Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup would remain United States vs. Europe competitions for men and women, respectively.
It would certainly be different and the idea of Adam Hadwin and Brooke Henderson, or any other Canadian combination, playing alongside one another for an International team would certainly be intriguing for this country.
Would it sell and would it achieve its goal of raising the profile of women’s golf and the Presidents Cup? That’s our question in this week’s GNN Poll.
