Go easy on that coffee intake, but we’re glad you called up GolfNewsNow as part of your morning ritual, which appears to the case judging from comments I’ve received from various members of the Canadian golf industry at trade shows and other venues.
It can be a little unsettling when a guy walks up to you and says, ‘Hey, I wake up to you every morning,’ not so much if it’s a woman making that statement. That’s just me.
Take the innuendo out of that statement and it’s gratifying to know that GNN has become a healthy addiction with its information and commentary through a medium not traditionally used by the golf industry until last September when this website launched.
Since that time, the number of GNN visitors has been on a steady incline, many of them arriving at the site through our Industry Insider e-mail that is delivered each day in time for morning coffee.
If you’re not already receiving the Insider, simply insert your e-mail address into the ‘Be An Insider’ box on the GNN home page.
Or click [ here ] and visit the subscribe page.
It’s easy to chat up GNN with words, but the purpose of today’s blog is to present black and white numbers in order to say thanks and be accountable to our readers for their parts in helping us grow. Call this the GNN first quarter report.
GNN has reached a number of milestones recently with several more about to be reached in the near future.
For one thing, the 30,000th visitor to GNN will likely be recorded within the next two weeks. As of yesterday morning, 27,333 visits had been made to GNN since its launch, with 12,985 of those being the absolutely unique sort, meaning they come from individual IP addresses.
The number of page views could very well reach 50,000 this week as 49,851 was the number that stood as of yesterday, with readers averaging 1.82 pages per visit.
We are very optimistic about those numbers for several reasons:
- GNN is targeted directly at the golf industry – owners, professionals, superintendents, managers, manufacturers, apparel companies etc. Therefore, the nearly 13,000 individual people who have visited GNN either work at or service the roughly 2,400 golf courses in this country. For each of those golf courses, there are more than five industry visitors to GNN and that’s still growing.
- GNN is just about to go into its first full golf season since its launch. The website’s existence thus far has been the winter months and we expect that traffic to GNN will increase as the 2009 season rolls out.
- Readership is already steadily climbing. Between mid-February and yesterday, the number of visits to GNN was 6,374, with 3,112 unique visitors and 10,738 page views. Compare that to our first full month back in October when the number of visits was 2,520 and GNN traffic has more than doubled in that time. The current number of GNN visits greatly exceeds the readership provided by traditional print publications aimed at the trade.
This is just the beginning.
So far, GNN has taken readers from Florida to Arizona to Los Angeles to New York, among other locations, and chatted with a wide ranging group of people from presidents and CEOs of Ping, Callaway, TaylorMade-adidas and Nike to PGA Tour players and celebs such as Justin Timberlake.
Just this week, GNN went over the 300 mark in stories published since mid-September and, as of yesterday, we’ve put no less than 324 photos on the site, most with the capability of enlarging at the click of a mouse for a better look at products, etc.
We don’t plan to stop there and are planning several innovative new features and content additions to keep readers both entertained and even more informed.
What these numbers add up to is a great first quarter start to 2009 for GNN and we thank our readers and advertisers for their support thus far and into the future.
