I phoned GNN blogger Tiffany Gordon last week and she was in the process of pulling a tournament off the course because of the deluge that was hitting her corner of Alberta at the Cottonwood Golf and Country Club.
She finally got back to me and not in a good mood I might add, but Tiff isn’t one to take it out on an innocent bystander, although it would be understandable if she ranted under the circumstances which I guess she did, but that’s okay.
Weather has been a constant source of frustration for many in the Canadian golf industry the past few years, but it looked at the start of the 2010 season that we might finally catch a break and get some pleasant conditions.
As Tiff points out in her blog on the home page today, Cottonwood got off to an early start in April, when things were looking good, but since then, they’ve been hit with a couple of snowstorms, one in May. Add to the mix a lot of rain and you can see why Tiff’s enthusiasm might be a bit dampened.
I’ll let her tell the story in today’s blog, but it makes me wonder if other GNN readers are also starting to experience a mixed bag of conditions around the country. Certainly, any Canadian who saw the flooding on the prairies a few days ago can feel for those who were affected.
That brings us to this week’s GNN Poll:
Are you as optimistic about your summer weather forecast as you were at the beginning of the 2010 season?
Be sure to cast your vote at the GNN Poll on the home page and feel free to tell us some of your weather-related stories from this year in the comments box below.
