As much as we hate to admit it, although we may be looking forward to a break once this season ends, we’re into September.
That means not only will the leaves begin to change in a few weeks and the days have already started getting shorter, but we lose much of our summer staff heading back to high school or university.
Some who remain in the area may still be available for weekend or evening shifts, but there will be a noticeable change around golf courses this week if it didn’t start in the final few weeks of August as university students moved back.
Some won’t be back next year. They’ll be graduating and moving into their chosen careers. Others might find other part-time jobs.
Others might be already enrolled or planning to enroll in a Professional Golf Management program, so working in a golf business for experience is a valuable asset going forward. Others may decide that compensation is perfect for their needs and playing golf is a bonus for them.
Of course, having experienced summer staff come back year over year is a positive for the business that employs them, so how many of this year’s staff members do you expect to return in 2018?
That’s the question in this week’s GNN Poll.
You can cast your vote below or on the GNN home page and, as always, you’re welcome to verbalize on this topic in the Comments section below.
