Since qualifying to play in this year’s RBC Canadian Open, Kyle German’s anticipation of that moment has been building over a long winter and spring and now, the time is almost upon him and Golf News Now will be with him every step of the way at Glen Abbey in Oakville, Ont.
The head professional of the Point Roberts Golf and Country Club has agreed to write a daily Canadian Open blog after qualifying to play at Glen Abbey by winning the Titleist and FootJoy Canadian PGA Club Professionals Championship last November in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
His blog, which will appear every day he’s at the Open, will also run simultaneously on the Canadian PGA’s website at www.cpga.com.
The gregarious German has a unique perspective, including this gem when he was asked if he was a Canadian Open longshot like the Roy McAvoy character in the movie Tin Cup.
“I promise not to fill my bag with the range balls,” he replied.
German, a Canadian PGA member even if he works in Washington State, carries the good wishes of association members with him to Glen Abbey.
If you would like to drop German a note in the GNN Forum, we will be glad to forward it to him. For an idea of what to expect from the quick-witted German, check out the June 24 posting of Hutch’s Blog. You can read it here.
