The British Open gets underway later this week at Royal Lytham and St. Annes, with Calgary’s Stephen Ames in the field.
Who are you picking to win the Open?
As is usually the case, Tiger Woods is the favourite, but despite his three wins this year, he wasn’t impressive at the Masters or U.S. Open. Admittedly, that could change quickly.
If Tiger does win, it would snap a streak of nine consecutive first-time winners in the majors, dating back to 2010. Another point to ponder is do Europeans have an advantage playing on the other side of the pond, even if Americans have won the last three majors?
I consulted with some well-known names in Canadian golf to get their thoughts on these and other topics in my Sun Media column here.
