You may have heard this chat I had with Tiffany Gordon, who is normally reluctant to jump the gun on the season, but relented and opened the range at Cottonwood Golf and Country Club near Calgary to satisfy the appetite of members in unusually-warm temperatures recently.
You may have seen this story from Kelowna, B.C., where golf courses were opening in late February. There was more of the same from other courses in Calgary and another in London, Ont., according to these links.
There was also this story from Nova Scotia and this one from PEI and there are are likely plenty of other golf courses either already open, or on the verge of opening with March break, which may vary depending on where you are, coming up before the end of the month.
Call it global warming or the result of a super El Nino, but the reality is that so many regions across the country have been treated to unusually warm temperatures even before the official start to spring and that’s obviously good news for an industry that relies so heavily on the weather.
So what’s happening where you are? Are you planning to open earlier than usual? If so, how much earlier? That’s the focus of this week’s GNN Poll.
