Doug Lawrie of Burlington, Ont., has been appointed general manager of The Golf Lab, located in Vaughan, Ont.
Lawrie, 42, spent 10 years growing the City of Mississauga’s golf portfolio and, more recently, lending his business development skills to the Within Range Golf Centres.
“The chance to utilize my networking, business development and leadership skills in a brand new, never-been-done-before golf performance facility is an exciting opportunity” said Lawrie.
“I’m looking forward to seeing The Golf Lab become a huge success. Golf instruction needs a new, invigorating way to help people learn. The Golf Lab is going to change the face of how golfers improve their performance, both biomechanically and instructionally,” he added. “
During his 10-year career at the City of Mississauga, Lawrie was head professional at the Lakeview Golf Course, one of the busiest municipal courses in Ontario.
He was also a member of the opening team and director of golf at the BraeBen Golf Course from 2004 to 2009. While at BraeBen, Lawrie set up and developed the BraeBen Academy.
Lawrie spent the past season working with fellow Canadian PGA member David Banks at the Within Range Golf Center in Burlington, Ontario, rebuilding its website and a client base.
“The Golf Lab is really excited to have Doug come on board as his background, management and business-minded leadership is exactly what we need to move the Golf Lab forward. Our leading-edge technology combined with Doug’s instructional and coaching knowledge provides a perfect fit for The Golf Lab.”, said Liam Mucklow, president and owner.
