Are You Properly Prepared For Emergencies?
September 6, 2010 by Ian Hutchinson
As GNN blogger Tiffany Gordon pointed out in a recent blog, the Cottonwood Golf and Country Club where she works has seen several instances recently in which a solid emergency response plan came in handy.
You can read that blog here, but those situations include an allergic reaction to a wasp sting and a situation where a guy out fishing came in with diabetic shock, but was showing signs of stroke.
According to Tiff, many of the Cottonwood staff are trained in CPR, use of the defibrillator and the emergency response plan there was formulated with local authorities to get EMS officials to the site in as short a time as possible.
Golf courses have the potential for so many different types of injury from burns in the kitchen to golf cart accidents to people being hit by golf balls, not to mention the possibility of heart attacks, strokes and some of the things that have happened recently at Cottonwood as described by Tiff.
Of course, we all hope nothing like that ever happens, but besides our own value on human life, there is also the potential for litigation in any of these circumstances, which emphasizes the need for a solid emergency response plan.
That brings us to our GNN Poll for this week.
How often do your facility review its emergency response plan?
Be sure to cast your vote at the GNN Poll on the home page and please feel free to use the Comments section below to describe your own experiences in which you’ve faced medical issues or some of the methods your facility uses to ensure everybody has a safe round.
