Are You Ready To Go For It In 2011?

August 15, 2010 by

As I mentioned in a blog here last week, there are some economic storm clouds on the horizon lately, which may or may not mean a slip back into recession after just emerging from the one that hit late in 2008.

Disappointing unemployment numbers, a volatile stock market and uncertainty on how the Harmonized Sales Tax will affect consumer spending in Ontario and B.C., the latter of which is putting up an admirable fight against the HST, are some signs that might indicate Canada hasn’t gotten off as easily as first thought.

However, there is also optimism out there. GNN blogger Kevin Thistle is working on his forecasting for 2011 at Coppinwood in Uxbridge, Ont., and says in a contribution later this week that a major expenditure could be in the cards for next year, especially after a banner month in July.

It all depends on confidence and while we can debate and examine both sides of the issue in this forum, the only way we can measure the mood in the golf industry right now is by asking you in the GNN Poll.

So, here we go.

Given the current economic climate, will your golf operation be spending more or holding the line on spending for 2011?

Be sure to cast your vote at the GNN Poll on the home page. We also welcome any thoughts you have on the subject in the Comments section below.
