Champ Was True To His Word
July 25, 2010 by GNN
Carl Pettersson, the 2010 RBC Canadian Open champ, kept a promise made to Dave Lafleur, chief financial officer for Golf Canada, in 2007.
Pettersson hitched a ride on a Royal Canadian Golf Association charter plane coming back from the British Open, but told Lafleur that he wouldn’t be playing the Canadian Open that year with the caveat that he would participate in future years.
Pettersson tied for 11th in 2008, but withdrew after shooting a first-round 77 last year at Glen Abbey.
Keeping a promise paid off big time this year.
