Playoff Needed on Women’s Tour
June 29, 2010 by GNN
Charlotte Mayorkas of Las Vegas beat Stephanie Sherlock of Barrie, Ont. in a one-hole playoff to win the second event on the 2010 CN Canadian Women’s Tour at Blue Springs Golf Club in Acton, Ont. on Tuesday.
Mayorkas and Sherlock squared off after both finished one-over par after 36 holes of regulation play. The playoff began on the 18th hole, a 390-yard par four where Mayorkas made par, with Sherlock carding a bogey.
“I knew that coming in today, it was going to be tough,” said Mayorkas.
“There were a lot of good players at the top of the leaderboard, and I just had to stay patient because of the wind and the weather. This is my first year playing in the CN Canadian Women’s Tour and I love it. It’s a great opportunity for women to play.”
Mayorkas, 26, earned $10,000 Cdn. for the win and earned an exemption into this year’s CN Canadian Women’s Open, which will be played Aug. 23-29 at St. Charles Golf and Country Club in Winnipeg.
The final stop on the CN Canadian Women’s Tour takes place July 11-13 at Club de golf Rivermead in Aylmer, Que.
